Welcome to The Mobile Safari Company - seasoned experts in the delivery of inclusive mobile tented safaris exploring Zambia's primier wilderness areas - with a special focus on the Kafue and Luiwa Plain National Parks as well as tailor-made itineraries of your choice. All of our safaris are fully guided and conducted in specially customised purpose built 4x4 safari vehicles with the aim of bringing you a unique insight into some of Africa's great National Parks and special wilderness areas.
Kafue National Park is the largest single protected area in Zambia and the second largest in Africa. Despite its size and prominent location only two hours drive from Livingstone, it remains little-known and largely unexplored. Thanks to its size and variety of habitat types the Kafue holds a fantastic diversity of wildlife, with over 100 larger mammal species, including a staggering 21 species of antelope, and over 500 recorded bird species, including the endangered black-cheeked lovebird.
The park covers a range of habitats, from savanna grasslands to open Miombo scrub and woodland, with dambos (grasslands which become flooded wetlands in the rainy season) interspersed among them, and supports a wealth of wildlife.
Kafue is an often forgotten and overlooked safari destination, but offers amazing wilderness and wildlife experiences. Whilst game may not be as abundant as more famous destinations, Kafue can still deliver - especially with a knowledgeable guide who knows the habitats of the park, and habits of the animals, to lead your safari.
Luiwa Plain National Park is one of Zambia's wildest and least developed protected areas. Situated in the remote floodplains of the Upper Zambezi in the Western Province, the park covers an area of 3,660 km², bounded by the Luambimba river on its eastern margin and the Luanginga River to the south-west - close to the border with Angola.
This is true African wilderness - a wide landscape of flat seasonally flooded grassland with scattered pans, stands of palms and islands of trees. The vast grasslands support large and varied herds of grazing herbivores, with the seasonal rains and flooding driving annual cycle of movement of wildebeest, tsessebe and zebra, which congregate in large herds on the open plain.
We take the 'roughing it' out of the camping our staff will set up camp, prepare all meals and break camp. Leaving you more time for game viewing, bird watching or relaxing. All camping equipment, bedding cooking facilities, food and refreshments are included - as well as all National Park entry fees. Safaris with more than four guests will be accompanied by a second 4x4 support vehicle. We visit remote wilderness areas but never out of touch - a satellite phone is taken on every safari.
